Types of Aadhaar Tracking Numbers

Depending on how and where you requested your Aadhaar update, you will receive a different type of tracking number. Identify yours below:

1. URN (14 Digits)

Update Request Number. Generated automatically when you update your Address or Document online via the myAadhaar self-service portal.

2. EID (14 or 28 Digits)

Enrolment ID. Printed on the top of the slip given to you when you visit a physical Aadhaar Seva Kendra for New Aadhaar or Biometric updates.

3. SRN (28 Digits)

Service Request Number. Generated strictly when you order a physical PVC Aadhaar Card to be delivered to your home via India Post.

Step-by-Step Online Tracking Process

Open the myAadhaar Portal

Scroll down to our 'Important Links' section and click on the 'Check Aadhaar Status' button. It will redirect you to the official UIDAI tracking page.

Enter Tracking Number

Type your 14-digit URN, SRN, or EID exactly as printed on your receipt. If you are using a 14-digit EID, you must also append the exact Date and Time of enrolment to make it 28 digits.

Solve Captcha & Submit

Enter the security code (Captcha) shown on the screen carefully. Click on the 'Submit' button to fetch real-time data from the UIDAI servers.

Check Status & Download

If your status displays "Your Aadhaar has been generated", it means the update is successful. You can now proceed to download your updated e-Aadhaar PDF.

How to Open e-Aadhaar PDF Password?

Once you download your e-Aadhaar, the PDF file will be securely locked. The 8-character password is a combination of the First 4 Letters of your Name (as in Aadhaar) in CAPITAL letters and your Year of Birth (YYYY).

Example 1: If Name is SURESH KUMAR and Year of Birth is 1990.
👉 PDF Password will be: SURE1990
Example 2: If Name is SAI and Year of Birth is 1995.
👉 PDF Password will be: SAI1995

Generally, online address updates or document updates take between 7 to 15 working days. However, demographic or biometric updates done at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra may take up to 30 days to process and reflect online.
My status says "Rejected". What should I do?
If your update request is rejected, the reason is usually provided below the status (e.g., 'Invalid Document' or 'Data Mismatch'). You will need to initiate a fresh update request using a valid, officially accepted supporting document.
Can I check my status without a registered mobile number?
Yes, you can check your update status using just your 14-digit URN or EID on the portal without an OTP. However, to download the actual updated e-Aadhaar PDF, an OTP sent to your registered mobile number is strictly required.
How do I enter the 28-digit EID correctly?
Your enrolment slip has a 14-digit EID number (e.g., 1234/12345/12345) and a Date & Time stamp (e.g., dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss). To form the 28-digit number, type the 14-digit EID, followed by the Year, Month, Date, Hour, Minute, and Second continuously without any slashes or spaces.
How can I track my PVC Aadhaar Card delivery?
Once your PVC card request is approved, UIDAI will hand it over to India Post and generate an Airway Bill (AWB) number. You will receive this AWB via SMS, which can be tracked on the official India Post tracking website.
